(pc st) Popcorn stitch

*Popcorn Stitch - (pc st) Work 3 hdc in indicated stitch, drop loop from hook, insert hook from front to back through top of first hdc made, place dropped loop on hook and pull through 1st hdc, ch 1 - Click here for Video Tutorial - http://youtu.be/8tJPd_lMRBI

Sc chain-less foundation row :

* The number at the end of each row is the stitch count for the row(#)
*Chain stitch does not count in stitch count!

3-10 year size:

Round 1: Work a Sc chain-less foundation row of 40 sts, join with a sl st to 1st ch. Take care not to twist your work.

(*if you don't know how to do a sc chain-less foundation just ch 40, join and sc around join and move to Rd 2)

Round 2: ch 2, *(hdc in next 4 sts, pc st in next st,) Repeat from * around, join with sl st to st hdc,

Round 3: ch 2, hdc in next 2 sts, pc st in next st, *(hdc in next 4 sts, pc st in next st,) Repeat from * till last 2 sts, hdc in last 2 sts, join with sl st to to 1st hdc,

Round 22: ch 2, hdc in each st around, join with sl st to 1st hdc, Fasten off and weave in ends.

Optional Drawstring - Ch 100 fasten off, I just pull each end tight and it knots naturally, trim ends and weave in between Rounds 21 - 22. This will pull it tighter around the face or neck for a better fit if desired.

*Want larger sizes - just add in multiples of 5 sts.
*For Preteen - Adult size do 50 stitches for Round 1

This pattern is so versatile. Here are some other fun options and ideas!
1. You can take off rows to make a thinner cowl (not hooded) or add more stitches in length for a longer cowl.
  1. You could sew closed one end and use it as a purse or bag.
  2. You could decrease the stitches around and turn it into a headband
  3. You could use it as a toddler skirt, with the drawstring. and pair it with cute leggings.

I will be adding more samples and more specific patterns for free with this soon. So keep watching the blog for more details. :) http://calleighsclips.blogspot.com

Sunset Slouchy Hat - Free Crochet Pattern

So my hubby has been obsessed with me making slouchy hats for him lately.  I've been looking for the perfect slouchy hat pattern and tried a few but wasn't really meeting exactly what I was looking for. I was being lazy and didn't want to work out a pattern for myself but I was inspired by some lovely new yarn I saw at Michaels. It's called Vanna's Choice Twists. You don't get much in a skein it's only 2.5 oz but the colors are gorgeous. There are 6 fun color twists to choose from. I went with the Twilight that is Deep charcoal with light grey, dusty blue, purple, and dark mauve multicolor wrap. I bought  2 skeins and had enough to make my hat and a matching one for Calleigh. She was pretty excited & I love this hat.

I hope you enjoy this pattern. It's really simple and I think it has the perfect amount of slouch. If you want super slouchy just add a few more rows of the dc. This hat is perfect for guys and gals. I'll try to get pics of the hubby in his slouch soon ;) I made him one with some awesome Neons from Hobby Lobby's I love this yarn.

End of the Year Design Contest

I've really enjoyed the Design Contests. I love seeing you take the base pattern and putting your own spin on it. Since I know it's a really busy time of year I'm going to give you till Dec 31st to work on this one, plus this project may take a little more time if you do larger sizes!

The New Capelet pattern has been a new favorite in the shop so I though we' would focus on just using it.

The rules are simple.

1. It has to be from this pattern. It can look just like my pattern or it can vary with your own creative ideas added. For instance, change the colors, edging, or add some ears from your favorite animal.  You can purchase this pattern in Ravelry

2. Email your Photo submission to me calleighclips @ att. net or you can post it to my facebook wall.
It doesn't have to be a professional image or even on a model. So don't feel like if you don't have professional image you wont win because it's mostly random draw. It's not a voting contest

4. I will make an album on facebook through out the months.

5. I will accept submissions from Nov 12th - Dec 31st. Winners will be chosen just after the new year.

This will not be a voting contest to give everyone an equal chance. I will pick a few at random, I will pick my favorite and my kids love to pick a couple favorites too. The more that enter the more random draws I'll pick!

If you have questions at any time just contact me! or leave comments below!

I can't wait to see your entries!! Have fun and be creative!
